Client: Gina, mother or two very active boys, needed a separate play area and storage for toys, which resided in the living room. Maria wanted to keep the kids’ play area in this space, however, dividing the space was needed.
Lena Designs worked with Gina virtually and was able to assist in setting up a play space for the boys, while maintaining the full functionality of the living room for the grown ups.
How we did it: Gina’s living room is long and narrow. The furniture was arranged the full length of the room and the children played in the middle of the room. By repositioning the couch and moving it forward a “conversation” space was created. Positioning the small book shelf on its side behind the couch and placing a bench cushion on top with fabric storage squares in the cubbies, created the perfect kid’s zone. A fun rug was placed behind the couch and a chalkboard attached to the wall.
Reveal: Now the kiddos enjoy their space to play and build forts, while the adults are able to relax and visit with friends & family, while keeping an eye on the children.
